Horses Are Dropping Like Flies In The Belmont

Horses Are Dropping Like Flies In The Belmont

The Belmont Stakes betting lines have been posted at the track and at all of the top sportsbooks and racebooks on the web. For those of you who planned on betting on the chalk, then your money was probably on the 2017 Belmont favorite, Classic Empire. After finishing fourth in the Kentucky Derby, and second in the Preakness Stakes, Classic Empire has proved to be ahead of the pack horse.

Unfortunately, it was announced this morning that Classic Empire will now miss the Belmont due to a hoof injury. This is big news for those of you who want to bet on the 2017 Belmont Stakes as the field has now become even more wide open.

The betting lines already took a hit in late May as the two winners of the first two legs of the Triple Crown had already announced they wouldn’t run either. The trainers for both the Derby winner, Always Dreaming, and the Preakness winner, Cloud Computing, announced that they are resting the horses for the summer season.

With that being the case, a lot of horses have benefited and the Belmont is pretty much any horses to win at the moment.

Who To Bet On At The Belmont Stakes

Tapwrit and Gormley are two horses that were expected to perform better in their previous performances in the Triple Crown series. They have both failed to meet expectations but this is a chance for both horses to redeem themselves. In fact, Tapwrit’s lineage has had significant success at the Belmont in the past. The horse's Twitter page even tweeted that “If I win Saturday, @Gainesway stallion Tapit will have sired 3 of the last 4 @BelmontStakes winners. Other 2 were @Tonalist and Creator.”

Lookin at Lee and Senior Investment are two more horses to look out for. Both Lookin At Lee and Senior Investment have surprised many with their recent performances and have helped their Belmont odds significantly.

Epicharis is maybe the most intriguing horse in the field as it will be the only foreign horse to run. This colt comes from Japan and has been given some of the best odds in the field yet is relatively unknown because he did not participate in the Derby or Preakness as its focus all along was to set its sites on the Belmont Stakes.

All of these three-year-old colts could be popular bets come race day which makes it difficult to pinpoint any Belmont underdogs. One thing is for sure and that is that this horse could go in any direction so place your bets now at legal horse betting sites and watch the excitement unfold on Saturday, June 10.
